The Water Suites built either side of the far end of the jetties provide accommodation for those who want to spend their holiday in style. Each unit is made up of two bedrooms; o­ne master bedroom furnished with a double bed and a twin bedroom with en suite bathrooms, living room with private bar with tea and coffee making facilities and a large private terrace with a Jacuzzi and corner bath in both bathrooms.

At Sun Island they believe that variety is the spice of life. In order to cater to your variety of choices, there is the 'Maaniya' restaurant, which serves international buffets, 'Vani' coffee shop, 'Sunstar' restaurant with a Thai and Chinese speciality,'Southern Star' with an exclusive a la carte menu, the 'Al Pontile' Italian restaurant with a Japanese corner, serving the most delicios of both worlds. No other resort in the country has a putting green. Typically of the owner, no expense has been spared to make this o­ne perfect. The special grass seeds were imported from the USA, underneath is a complex sand filtration system. Consultants have spent months perfecting this facility.

Running beside the green is a broad, paved boulevard lined with tall palms. o­n the other side are pristine tennis, volley and basketball courts.

It is like something out of Meditteranean Spain or California. It is not typically Maldivian, but then things have been moving away from the typically Maldivian for years now, as the expectation of luxury as well as nature steadily increases.

The large soft bottomed lagoon is ideal for swimming and watersports. The dive centre is run by a pro-active young Dutchman who, typically of the place, tries never to say ‘no'. There is almost nothing that cannot be done to accommodate the wishes of the guests. The diving is some of the best in the atoll. Channels, corners and outside reefs are the mainstay, offering chances to see the big pelagics, from rainbow runners to whale sharks. Discovery dives for the inexperienced are also popular here.

Snorkeling is not the best around. It is o­nly really feasible off the end of the jetty, which faces into the atoll. There is no drop-off but a gentle slope. Still the fish are numerous.

There is also jet skiing and wake boarding.

Children
2-12 years apply for the child rates when sharing with accommodating parents. Children under 2 years will be subject to a Government Bed Tax of £6 per night.

Christmas & New Year Supplements
All guests staying over the above periods are subject to a £75 compulsory fee per person per event. Children 2-12 years will pay £38 and will receive soft drinks and water o­nly. The supplement includes a complimentary bottle of wine and mineral water for each person for each venue.
